INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF OUR COMMUNITY
Kalida Park History
In 1959, the recently formed Kalida Lions Club saw a need for park facilities in the Village of Kalida. An area for a park was identified on the north side of the Village and the Lions soon signed the papers to purchase the land which became known as Lions Froggy Park. The Lions Club devoted many hours and funds over the years to develop this park.
In 2003,the park was reduced in size when the Lions and Village supported Kalida Schools in a community effort by donating Froggy Park property on the south side of Plum Creek to facilitate the building of a new High School.
Once again, the Kalida Lions stepped up to begin planning new park facilities to replace those lost, as well as improve the remaining north side of Froggy Park. The Kalida Athletic Boosters were also considering options for additional sports fields and soon became part of the planning of the new park. In 2008, an area for a new larger park was identified, and with the support of many individual donors, local businesses and organizations this new property was purchased. This new area became known as Four Seasons Park and development began in 2009 and continues even today. The park has many unique features and is truly a park for Four Seasons.
In 2015,Pioneer Park, a pocket park located on the square in downtown Kalida, was developed by the Kalida Area Chamber of Commerce.
In 2017, a horse farm property between Froggy Park and Four Seasons Park became available. This natural area was soon added to our park system and became known as Plum Creek Nature Area. Currently under construction is an elevated walkway that will offer scenic views through the Plum Creek Nature Area and will also connect Froggy Park and Four Seasons Park.Estimated completion for this walkway is late 2022.
The Kalida Park Foundation, in conjunction with the Village of Kalida, continues to maintain and develop these wonderful park facilities.
